Privacy Policy of the Website
Since the Writer’s Block website and its operators respect users’ privacy, we’ve published this privacy policy and commit to upholding it. (In other words, standard practice—why not?)
Purpose
This policy explains how we handle user privacy, including how we use information provided directly by users or collected during website interactions. (In other words, standard legal boilerplate.)
By using this blog, you agree to this privacy policy and the website’s terms of service.
General
Personal Information: Collected when you use the site, including identifiable details like your name, address, purchased products/services, payment methods, etc. This is information you knowingly provide (e.g., during registration).
Aggregate Statistical Data: Non-identifiable information such as viewed pages, ads clicked, IP addresses, interests, etc.
Registration
When registering for services or purchasing products, we only request information directly necessary to fulfill your request. (For the record, as of now, we don’t actually sell services or products—but this clause stays!)
Data Storage
Collected data is stored in the website’s database under its responsibility.
Use of Information
Data is used solely per this policy or legal requirements to:
Enable site services.
Improve/enrich site content and offerings.
Modify or discontinue existing services.
Facilitate purchases (e.g., displaying relevant ads).
Personalize ads based on your interests.
Primarily, we use non-identifiable statistical data.
Direct Marketing
We may occasionally send promotional emails about our services, but only with your explicit consent. You can unsubscribe anytime. (A great chance to sign up for our newsletter! Use this link and get a free book.)
Third-Party Sharing
We won’t share personal data except in these cases:
Completing purchases via third-party vendors (though we currently don’t offer this).
Legal disputes requiring disclosure.
Suspected illegal activity on the site.
Court orders.
Mergers/acquisitions, provided the new entity adheres to this policy. (Admit it, this clause is oddly amusing.)
Cookies
We use cookies for operations, statistics, authentication, personalization, and security. Modern browsers let you block cookies—check your browser’s help guide if unsure. (I prefer calling them “tea cakes,” but let’s stick to “cookies.”)
Third-Party Ads
External companies manage ads on our site. These ads use their cookies to track views/clicks, governed by their privacy policies, not ours.
Security
We employ updated security systems, but no system is impenetrable. We can’t guarantee absolute immunity from unauthorized access. (As I said earlier: boilerplate.)
Data Access Rights
Under Israel’s Privacy Protection Law (1981):
You may request to review your stored data.
If data is incorrect/incomplete, request corrections/deletions via info@writersblockg.com.
Data used for direct contact can be deleted upon written request.
Policy Changes
Material changes to personal data usage terms will be announced on the homepage.
P.S.
Some links direct you to purchase books on Amazon or Book Depository. While these help readers buy books I’ve reviewed, note that we participate in affiliate programs. Purchases via these links earn the site a small commission (around 4%).
